To represent the AU Commission to the US Authorities, and to advise the commission on the emerging issues in the Americas. To monitor political and economic development of concerns to Africa and to follow up on issues pertaining to NEPAD and other AU Commission key strategic policies.
To develop, maintain and consolidate constructive and productive institutional relationships between the African Union and the Government of the USA, Congress, the Breton Woods Institutions, non-governmental and academic organizations engaged in African issues and policy, and Africans in the Diaspora.
To coordinate African positions with the African group of Ambassadors and to member countries in their relationships with the Americas.
To promote Africa’s interests in the Americas, a positive image of Africa and also to create American popular opinion about Africa, and AU key issues of concerns.
To promote USA and Diaspora investments into Africa; and have, to that end, produced on an annual basis an investment and partnership guide for these constituencies.

Promoting initiative on income generation and peoples’ economic empowerment policies and programmes, in charge of the Social Adjustment and Empowerment programmes funded by the World Bank and other development partners; and coordinating policy follow-up, monitoring and evaluation among government ministries and local governments.

Promotion of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) to Zanzibar by preparing attractive incentive package and an effective promotion campaign to attract investors. Overseeing Government budgetary performance and supervise the performance of the financial Institutions.
Responsible for resource mobilization by engaging financial institution like AfDB, SAUDI FUND, OPEC FUND, KUWAIT FUND, ABUDHABI FUND AND OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS in Africa and other countries.
Part of the Tanzanian Government team on the fiscal reforms with the WB/IMF; led the negotiations with the WB/IMF on the structural adjustment policy for Tanzania and for Zanzibar.
